Ratatan leaves Early Access on July 16, 2026! Here's everything new, changed, and improved in the full 1.0 launch — new worlds, characters, mechanics, and quality-of-life updates.
The full release adds two brand-new worlds, bringing the total to 7 biomes across the world of Redo. New enemy types, environmental hazards, and weather effects make each world feel distinct. The story campaign now spans 35+ stages with a proper ending and post-credits content.
1.0 introduces new playable Ratatan heroes with unique Melodium skills, plus over 30 new Cobun types joining the existing roster of 100+. New weapon categories include the Scythe (area damage) and the Cannon (explosive knockback), opening fresh build possibilities.
Based on Early Access feedback, the 1.0 update overhauls the rhythm input window (now more forgiving on Normal difficulty), adds a practice mode for each stage, improves multiplayer netcode for smoother 4-player co-op, and rebalances all bosses. FEVER mode now has visual tutorials for new players.
Your Early Access saves carry over to 1.0! However, some roguelike progression (unlocked Cobun types, Melodium upgrades) will be reset due to balance changes. Story progress and completed worlds remain intact. You'll keep all achievement-based cosmetics.
Ratatan 1.0 launches simultaneously on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The original Nintendo Switch version was cancelled due to hardware limitations — the development team confirmed that older Switch hardware couldn't handle the 100+ on-screen Cobun at stable performance.

Chorus are mysterious fish-shaped creatures roaming Redo. When a Ratatan sings to them and grants a Medama (eye), they transform into loyal Cobun warriors. Your Cobun inherit traits from their Ratatan master and follow rhythm commands into battle. Managing your Cobun count is crucial - losing too many means a weaker army for the boss fight ahead.
Each Ratatan wields a Melodium - a magical instrument that channels the power of song into battlefield commands. Start with the tutorial, practice the basic four-beat commands, and you'll get the hang of it. The game is more forgiving than it looks - even imperfect timing still moves your army, just less effectively.
